Observing traffic is step one; making agents follow rules is step two. Vantio Gate is standalone Enforce — $499/month after a 14-day trial. It applies the rules you set on the path you wrap: destination rules, sensitive-field stripping, and spend ceilings. Validate them against live traffic, then turn them on.
Optics remains its own free product. You often wrap with Optics first, then add Gate on that same path. Gate does not sell Optics as a nested include, and it does not close raw sockets, skipped wraps, or browser paths it never sees.
Start with Optics (vantio run or the SDK wrap) when you only need visibility. Add Gate when watching is not enough. Clear reporting shows what app-layer enforcement still cannot see — Phantom Engine protects those enrolled Linux hosts, at $799 per node per month.
Packaging note (22 August 2026): An earlier version of this post said Gate includes Optics and pointed builders at Optics MCP as the next rung. The products are peers. MCP inspect is optional and read-only; it is not Gate governance.
